Rich Products Vietnam - The “Better Our Community” Journey

By the end of every year, Rich Products Vietnam would organize charitable activities to help those in unfavorable circumstances. Each year’s charitable program is a journey on which Rich’s associates have a chance to review their perspective on life and better understand the values that the company treasure.

This year, the program was held on December 21st with the message loosely translated as “Rich’s brings and spreads the love to the community.” The locations where the charitable activities took place were the National Cancer Hospital, Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics 2, and a chain of Smile charitable bistros in Ho Chi Minh city. During this charity event, Rich's associates had an opportunity to get to know people from different walks of life and acted as helping angels that brought joy, love and hope to those in need.

Rich's associates were divided into small groups to buy ingredients and help in the kitchen. At the National Cancer Hospital and Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics 2, Rich's associates did not hesitate to work hard. Some even went to work on the Saturday prior to the event to make and wrap muffins in beautiful little bags as Christmas gifts for children at the hospitals. Although the gifts were small, they contained big love from the associates.

At 7:30 a.m., Rich's associates were at their assigned locations and ready to do their jobs: They washed vegetables, chopped meat and cut onion, garlic and chili, etc.

"Normally there would be only 4 of us doing this,” said Ms. Huong, a kitchen assistant at Smile 6 bistro. “It is so crowded today. The place is full of people!"

Although it was winter, when we entered that small kitchen, it seemed as though the cold air was gone. All that could be perceived was the laughter of everybody, the sounds of hurried footsteps, and the familiar smell of Bun Bo (Vietnam’s traditional beef noodles).

Meanwhile at the hospitals, Rich’s associates were carrying and preparing bags of gifts for the little patients. Everyone was eager and ready to bring the children those gifts that took them many days to prepare and carefully wrap, with the hope to see the smiles on the children’s faces.

At 10:30 a.m., all of Rich's associates gathered at the Smile bistros to welcome the in-need people with Bun Bo. For only 1,000 vnd, anyone could have a delightful lunch along with a Rich's muffin as dessert. Hundreds of people were waiting in line, and Rich's associates were working constantly for 3 hours straight. While the diners were waiting in line, they could also buy super cheap clothes (donated by Rich’s associates) ranging from 0-2,000 vnd.

After the event, each of us came home with a different take on the experience: We think differently about the definition of unfortunates; we have a new perspective of life; and more importantly, we’ve learned how to love and share our love with the community.
