Mirror glaze cakes trend penetrates Vietnam market

In recent years, mirror glaze cakes (or mirror marble cakes) have become a phenomenon on social media and among bakery communities.

The highlight of this type of cake is its shiny and glossy surface that can reflect its surrounding like a mirror. The cake surface is often adorned with spontaneous, artsy patterns, making it even harder for the cake and beauty lovers to take their eyes off of it.

Although mirror cakes have been popular in the foreign markets for some time and attracted the interest of many Vietnamese chefs, the recipe for this cake is still a question mark in Vietnam. In fact, many cake lovers who are young and good at English can easily find tutorials on YouTube by foreign bakers on how to make mirror cakes, but some of the products mentioned in their recipes cannot be found in Vietnam.

Understanding the demand and interest of their customers, Rich’s technical sales representatives have researched and come up with a mirror cake recipe from Rich’s own products. They named the new application “mirror ganache”.

Just like its name, the cake has a surface made from ganache (an application of Rich’s white Chocolate Compound). Thanks to the milky whiteness of the mix, one can easily add food coloring to it to achieve a variety of colors and patterns.

The interesting thing is the pattern on mirror cakes is often arbitrary, which means one can freely create and innovate. While pouring ganache freely onto a cake's surface is one way to create patterns, there's another way that's no less popular: One may hold a cake by the cake circle and slightly tilt it left and right, back and forth. This will be a new and exciting experience for traditional pastry chefs.

With their classy and modern look along with the artsy and unique patterns, mirror cakes often give consumers the impression that only professionals can make them. But with Rich’s recipe, even home bakers can catch up.

The secret here is to use Rich’s glaze in the ganache to add more glossiness to the cake surface. Beside that function of making cakes shinier, Rich’s glaze can also be used to cover fruits and help prolong their preservation period.

After many successful attempts with the mirror ganache recipe, Rich’s officially publicized this application in its year-end workshops. The exotic mirror cakes attracted a lot of attention from the workshops’ attendants.

Having an opportunity to directly communicate with Rich’s technical sales representatives in such workshops, customers had many of their questions answered about mirror cakes, which they thought could only be found in foreign markets.

On Vietnam market, there has not been any sign of mirror cakes being sold in bakeries or coffee shops. The fact that Rich’s customers were updated with this new trend so early on will enable them to keep up with it and create a fever of mirror cakes in Vietnam.

Up until now, it is safe to say Rich’s is the first organization to introduce this recipe to Vietnam market, and customers can easily find products mentioned in the recipe through the company’s distributors and wholesalers.
