VIETNAM SIGNATURE BATTLE 2018 - MORE THAN A DRINK, IT'S A PASSION!

Exciting and thrilling, Vietnam Signature Battle (VSB) is the largest and most innovative beverage competition in Vietnam, sponsored by Rich Products. After two days of competition 4-5/05/2018, VSB found the winner of the $5,000 prize, who will also represent Vietnam at World Signature Battle in Korea.

VSB’s predecessor is Vietnam Beverage Battle, which was successfully held in 2017. With a new structure and a new name, VSB is highly praised by expert mixologists or its professionalism and fairness.

This year’s competition was expanded nationwide, drawing the attention of many talents all over the country, especially with its new challenging rules that inspired the creativity of the contestants.

Moreover, joining the judge panel were high-profile experts such as Mr. Le Thanh Tung (bar manager of Vise Hospitality); Mr. Truong Thanh Trung (lecturer at Vietnam-Australia Vocational College); Mr. Sang Moo Hyun (former judge of World Signature Battle - WSB); and Mr. Jiho Jeon (Champion of WSB 2017).

The competition’s highlight was the variety of applications performed, from coffee to mocktail and alcohol. With the 12 premium naturally flavored Rich’s Syrups, the contestants were inspired to innovate unique drinks, giving the judges headache to have to decide on the winning performance.  

“This year’s contestants are very strong and creative. They  came to this competition well-prepared, making the battles even more thrilling and exciting than last year,” said Truong Thanh Trung.

Another plus for VSB was the new interesting ingredient challenge in the semi-finals. Each contestant had to randomly pick 4 ingredients to create a well-balanced and eye-pleasing drink. Having only one night to find a way to mix quite exotic ingredients such as pepper, goji berry, beetroot, etc., contestants however did very well in their performances. Noticeable among the performances were egg coffee by Nguyen Tuan Anh, “First Love” goji berry ice-cream by Nguyen Ngoc Anh and rice milk coffee by Nguyen Thi Diem Hang.

Finally, after many intense battles, Nguyen Thi Diem Hang  was named the Champion of VSB 2018 and became the owner of the $5,000 prize and Vietnam representative at WSB 2018 in Seoul, South Korea. In addition, Diem Hang is expected to cooperate with Rich’s in our upcoming activities.

“Diem Hang is a very strong candidate from this year’s competition. With her experience having participated in other major contests, Diem Hang always comes off as a very neat and creative candidate,” said Le Thanh Tung.

It’s safe to say that VSB 2018 finished with great success. Best wishes to the Champion Nguyen Thi Diem Hang. Hopefully, she will make us proud at WSB 2018 (Korea).
